1st July 2012 The prizewinners of the third edition of the contemporary art contest, Premio Combat, were announced yesterday, 30th June 2012, at the Granai gallery (the temporary exhibition space in Villa Mimbelli) where the 70 finalists have been on show for the past week.
The winner of the Painting category is Berlin-based Swedish artist Bo Christian Larsson for his painting entitled "The Destroyer" (pencil, acrylic, airbrush, on paper).
In the Photography category, the first prize was awarded to Giovanni Mantovani, from Brescia, for his photograph entitled "Mind the Gap".
The prize for the best work in the Graphic Arts category went to Radenko Milak (Bosnia) for his "Bordello of Warriers (Sarajevo 1993)" (charcoal and ink on paper).
The Premio Combat Special Prize for artists under the age of 35 was awarded to photographer Francesca Cirilli (from Viareggio, Tuscany) for her work "What New Perspectives - Delhi", and the popular jury prize to photographer Benedetta Alfieri.
This is the third edition of the Premio Combat art competition which is open to artists of any age from all over the world. It is organised by Paolo Botoni of Blobart Livorno and this year has attracted 1125 entries from 28 different countries. The contest is backed by its excellent website which displays all the works entered into the competition, as well as giving a detailed profile of all the artists.
