The Livorno footballers and their fans paraded along the seafront Viale Italia last night to celebrate their promotion back to Serie A after a three year absence. The team travelled along in an open top bus surrounded by a sea of flags and fans who followed on mopeds, bicycles and on foot, many more lining the street to salute the club's success. One of the most prominent banners was a tribute to Piermario Morosini, former Livorno player who died tragically during a match last year.

The Livorno players made things a little easier for their opponents by playing in unusual roles. At one point striker Federico Dionisi even took over as referee! The match was cheered on by 12000 fans and finished with a 3-2 victory for the Vecchie Glorie.
