Direct Motorail Service from Belgium/Holland to Livorno

Railsavers motorail service from Holland to Livorno, ItalyRailsavers motorail service from Holland to Livorno, ItalyVERY SADLY, THE DUTCH MOTORAIL SERVICE FROM HOLLAND TO LIVORNO WILL NOT BE OPERATING IN 2015 Visitors to Livorno do not only arrive on cruise ships! There is a regular arrival of English and Dutch visitors to Livorno throughout the summer months, by TRAIN! What's more, an average of 350 passengers per week arrive in Livorno, travelling with their own cars or motorbikes on board this comfortable and very convenient Motorail service that connects northern Europe to Italy.

Railsavers  are based near Blackpool in the UK and are the company responsible for promoting the service that allows British motorists to reach southern Europe in style and comfort, saving their driving energies for when they disembark in Livorno central station. Managing director David Evans has been running the company for 25 years and has maintained an enthusiastic and dedicated approach to his business.

Described by The Sunday Times as "the most luxurious motorail train in Europe", the service runs once a week from 1st June to mid/end August, leaving every Friday from S'Hertogenbosch - more commonly known as Den Bosch - in Holland, close to the Belgian border and accessible from/to the UK by various ferry crossings for which Railsavers offers good discounts. The train arrives in Livorno on Saturday morning at 10am. The return journey departs Livorno on Saturdays at 5pm, arriving in Den Bosch on Sunday afternoon at 1.55pm.

Not only a convenient way of getting from the UK to Italy, this motorail service is also an excellent means of getting to 'the North' for drivers based in Italy, particularly those in the Tuscany region (like me!). It is particularly popular with motorcyclists and Vespa owners preferring to avoid that 'numb bum' experience as far as possible and getting a head start on their European travels.

For Vespa owners and enthusiasts, Livorno offers a rare treat in the form of Marco Quaretta's vintage Vespa workshop which can be visited by appointment.
